Wales Snowdown

Victorian beach

Often overlooked as a destination by visitors to the UK, but with its stunning scenery, beautiful coastline, magnificent castles, culture and individual language a holiday to Wales can offer a marvellous experience.

Be sure to visit some of the wonderful gardens of North Wales, take the train or climb Snowdon if you feel energetic, see Caernafon or Conwy castles and explore Llandudno, the popular holiday resort dating from the Victorian era.
Your itinerary could include visits to:- the ruins of Tintern Abbey, the fairy-tale Italianate village of Portmeirion, Colwyn Bay Mountain Zoo or some of the many fabulous castles that litter the coast and border of Wales.
Itinerary:
Day 1&2
Brecon Beacons
From your home travel by ferry or Eurotunnel to Britain. We suggest that if you live in the North of the Middle of the Netherlands you travel with Stena Line from Hook of Holland to Harwich (why not take a comfortable night sailing, so that you can start your trip to Wales early…) If you live in the South of The Netherlands or Belgium a ferry from Calais would be best, or alternatively Eurotunnel.
The price of the passages is NOT included in this tour
The first two nights your stay at a lovely inn in the Brecon Beacons, the beautiful countryside with its stunning landscapes and it’s many (also industrial) gems.
During this whole tour you stay in typical country inns, where you can meet the local and axperience the warm hospitality, so typical for this land.
Day 3&4
Cardiff and Swansea
We suggest you travel along the coast along towns like Cardiff and Swansea to the South West of Wales. Enjoy the many places of natural beauty, the lovely villages and the great views.
The coming 2 nights you stay at a typical Welsh in on the Pembrokeshire coast. Enjoy the hospitality of the Welsh people, learn their history or sit down and relax on one of the terraces overlooking the George’s Canal (Irish Sea). A visit to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a real must !!
Day 5&6
Mid Wales
Further in northern direction to Mid Wales. The Teifi Valley is something not to be missed and a visit to the University town of Aberystwyth is great, with it’s beautiful promenade and it’s Victorian railway over the cliffs. A real must here are King Arthur’s Labyrinth and the Centre of alternative technology.
For the next 2 nights you stay you enjoy more Welsh hospitality in one of the typical inns.
Day 7&8
The far North of Wales
On tour to the far North of Wales one should not miss the enchanting Italian village of Portmeirion (where you would like to stay forever…) and proceed to Porthmadog for a spectacular ride through Wales’ capturing nature. This is Snowdonia, with is rough mountains and it’s spectacular view.
Why not take a ride with one of the many “Great Little Trains of Wales”. Of course you must not miss the Island of Anglesey for a visit to one of the largest and best preserved Castles.
Your hotel in the north is as good as ever!!
Day
9&10
Chester
Travelling west you leave Wales and stay on the English-Welsh border in the lovely city of Chester with it’s medieval city centre, it’s unique buildings and it’s great nature. Stay in one of our inns in the Chester area.
Day

Time to proceed to the east and catch your ferry home.
Alternatively Thames Travel International can reserve an overnight stay somewhere along the route.
